free knitting pattern : hooded jacket by Jenny Watson

Here is a cute pattern  for a hooded cardigan, I love the ears!

free bunny nuggets knitting pattern

I just love the name and they are sooo cute. I'm fed up with the cold weather, luckily we haven't had much snow (yet) in Kent but its wet and cold all the same. So I thought about using some of the big bag of oddments of wool I have in my loft to cheer myself up and this pattern may just be the answer and they make great little gifts. Easter really isn't that far away is it?! (Pattern: Bunny Nuggets by Rebecca Danger)

its cold, bread pudding needed

When its cold you feel like eating comfort food, I know I do. Something to do with fueling your body for sub zero temperatures. Snow is planned in the South for Monday, I hope they get it wrong. The last time we had lots of snow everything came to a grinding halt, shops ran out of food and driving on the motorway became an extreme sport. So a quick Friday night baking session whilst my two are at work and the cinema - an hour or so later and two bread puddings. I started making them in loaf tins a while back because you get nice deep satisfying slices of pudding. Ian said he was going on a diet until I rang him to say I was baking - ahh never mind he said the diet can start on Monday! A way to a mans heart ... Whilst they were in the oven I carried on knitting the free pattern I posted earlier this week. I haven't used this yarn before and its lovely to knit with with clear stitch definition and so soft to touch. I've just started the back and raglan decreases, so far its

Jack's cable scarf is finished

January is starting off well with one UFO finished, yeah! Jack loves it, which is great after the time it took me to knit it. I started it in September 2012  with lots of projects in between and just in time for the cold spell due this weekend.

Sirdar 9245 short sleeved cable cardi (update)

This cardigan  is taking me ages to complete. I started it back in July (I think) and I'm still trying to finish it! But here is a quick update, right front almost finished but still a long way to go before its actually finished, blocked and ready to wear. By reminding myself here on my blog maybe (just maybe) I will finish it this month! I've almost finished Jack's cable scarf, 12 rows to go!

Granny Square Scarf

I came across this lovely granny square scarf on Pinterest this week. I just love looking at all the lovely photos and inspiration out there. I'm new to this and love adding interesting patterns, recipes in pictures but way behind other peoples boards! Anyway I wanted to share this photo as its just so lovely and would be perfect for the Spring. I have too many UFOs to be thinking of starting a new one! Enjoy the rest of your week. Amanda x

free knitting pattern - baby cardigan Twilleys Freedom Sincere DK

I have been looking for a pattern for a lady at my hairdressers so I've ordered the yarn today. I haven't knitted any baby things since Jack was a baby (many years ago and makes me sound old!) You can find the baby cardigan knitting pattern courtesy of Deramores.

Valentine cup cake recipe & new kitchen storage ideas

I've just placed my first order with Jamie at Home  but through a local lady (the items I wanted were on sale and I do love a bargain!) I thought you'd like to see this neat idea for storing cupcake cases. Mine are in the cupboard and always fall out when we fish for something. So one job I'll be tackling this January is kitchen cupboard re-organisation! And the jar was only £3 with my order so I'm very pleased with that too.     I've also ordered six of these as it was BOGOF (well 1p for the second one) and who can resist such a tempting offer. I've gone for two each of tomato, slate and almond. Its a present for my hubby who loves spices and cooking (when he's not working) and I hate the old jam jars I'm currently using.     And lastly this yummy recipe I came accross via my Jamie at Home lady Amanda

granny squares, caramel sauce and walking in the woods

My weekend has been about cooking including sweet-sea-salted-caramel sauce found via little birdie Receiving my first copy of Simply Crochet magazine Making progress with my first granny square blanket and walking in the wood this morning      (sea salted caramel sauce can be addictive, I've tried mine on hot chocolate with whipped cream!)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all. It was my last day off today and I went off for lunch with Ian at Wagamama in Ashford. We've never been before so wasn't sure what to expect. Lunch was lovely (lots of noodles) and we sat with two people that we'd never met before and had a lovely chat. It made our lunch so much better with lots of interesting stories about pub life. I've had a restful break from work for almost two weeks. Christmas day was spent with both parents at our house; watching lots of movies; eating too many chocolates and walking Moss almost every day (maybe some of the calories were burnt off!) I hope you all had a great Christmas too. New Years day was spent gardening, something I havent been able to do for so long due to so much rain. I spent hours outside thinking ahead to warmer weather and hopefully growing better vegetables this year. 2012 was a terrible year for so many gardeners and I hope this year will be much better.
